So when I decided to take my first online course I was working in a corporate job and looking for a way to build my own business on the side or to at least increase my income. The first few courses I took sat in my student account for about 2 years before I even looked at them again. Finally on maternity leave I decided to complete those courses and to take advantage of my free time to learn things that I have always wanted to learn. Fast forward 5 years and I have taken over 200 online courses and been attuned to 40 healing modalities. For goodness sake why would someone even do that? Well the reason I did that is because somewhere during my online learning process I decided that I wanted to start teaching. Teaching was always a long term goal of mine and at about 18 I decided that when I had children I would become a teacher. 2 kids later I soon discovered that teaching children was not for me after nights of repeating the same things to a child (my child) rolling his eyes and making exaggerated yawning sounds, I quickly realised that despite all the self development books that I have read I still don’t have the patience for having to calmly repeat myself 10,000 times. No, teaching adults suddenly seemed that much more appealing and better still adults who actually chose the course themselves.
So let’s get back to the lessons learned from 200 online courses and 40 attunements. What I discovered from taking online courses is that you can learn just about anything online. I also learned that all courses are not built equal. I also learned that when choosing an online course you should keep in mind your expectations for your final outcome of taking the course. There are a few industry secrets that no one really talks about that I’m about to get into now…. For example some industry’s are unregulated which means that their are no government standard requirements for setting up that particular course. Life coaching is an unregulated industry practically everywhere, yet you find courses stating accredited course. Accredited by who? These courses are accredited by voluntary organisations that have set a base line standard that is not recognised by government. If an industry is not regulated then you can take any course and call yourself a qualified xyz I.e Life coach or Energy Healer. In unregulated industries a course provider can pay to have their course accredited by an organisation but in an unregulated industry accreditation just becomes a fancy non existent credential. I have taken non accredited and accredited courses and yes the little logo at the bottom, of the certificate does look fancy but the truth is people only care about whether you can get results and get the job done. If you are looking to use your certificates in a professional environment such as a Job then you have to investigate what qualifications that Job actually requires. I have taken lots of Massage courses online and they taught me the theory of massage. Some of those courses even came accredited but here’s the thing, if you want to set up a massage practise or work on clients in a salon you need a certificate from a in person training provider, at least here in England you do and I suspect in many other places too. To get around this some of the courses even state you cannot call yourself a massage therapist as this is a regulated title but you can call yourself a Massage practitioner, a bit suspicious to me and at the danger of being fined or forced to shut down your practise that was not even a road I was prepared to go down. After I started learning about energy healing and chakras I slowly began to realise that all of the things that I was learning were components of Reiki so I eventually took Reiki levels 1-3 Master teacher training. By this time I was completely fascinated with Acupressure and crystals and realised that I actually needed to be insured to do hands on healing and that was what led me to take an in person fast track fully body massage course. After taking Shamanic Healing training online and the Reiki courses I slowly began to open up to receiving attunements. My first thoughts around attunements were that I didn’t want anyone interfering or messing with my energy field. I slowly began to warm to the idea of attunements after my Munay ki Shamanic training as I was spontaneously initiated after watching the course and then lying on my bed. I saw some shapes in bright colours and on further inspection they looked like Chinese writing in front of me. Then later that same day I saw some more shapes on the wall behind me. I don’t know what they were and googling didn’t give me any answers when I researched the shapes. I also whilst creating my own Shamanic course had a labyrinth symbol start bouncing infront of me across the room asking to be included in the course. Since those mystical experiences I have taken some courses and completely avoided their attunement process. Recently I have started receiving attunements and calling them in. I always ask The Creator to only allow attunements to work on me if they are in alignment with his will and for my highest good. I also do regular cleansing and protection prayers and rituals and I ask my Higher Self to act as a shield against negative implants. Attunements are offered for as little as $5 but you have to think about who and what you are allowing to access your energy field. You also need to choose your teachers carefully and find out who they are what they believe in and their motives.
My final thoughts are that online courses are good for refreshing your skills and for learning how to do something but you have to apply the knowledge to make them worth anything. It is not about the piece of paper it is about what you do with the information that you learned. Information is just information until you actually apply it and make a difference in your life or someone else’s. As for the attunements, with some of them I felt actually nothing and felt that I was just paying for a few pages of writing exaggerated to be called a manual. Others opened me up to receive downloads and information from my Higher self and the spiritual realm. What I can say is that now I have lots of ideas for future courses that I will create. From some attunements I received a small dime of information and from others I received a whole banquet of knowledge. When I put everything that I have learned together they give me the ability to create unique offerings. I also set high standards for myself and want to offer the best quality courses that I can which requires continued learning and constant improvement so overall I would say the journey has been worth it.
