The Despacho is a Sacred ceremony that is carried out by Paqo Shamans. The Despacho is created as an offering to Mother Earth/Pachamama and is also used to send prayers up to the heavens and or to set intentions or to release things that no longer serve you.
To create a Despacho you need a A4 or larger piece of wrapping paper, tissue paper or plain paper. You add items that are perishable, as an offering to Mother earth, to the centre of the paper in a circle. Items used in a Despacho include Brown and White sugar to represent masculine and feminine energies, herbs, flowers, sweets, seeds, rice, wine and or florida water and candies. The items are carefully placed to create a mandala pattern. The items are added to the Despacho whilst praying or setting intentions or focusing on what you want to manifest or release.
You can write down your intentions or prayers and add them to the Despacho or you can blow your intentions into 3 Bayleaves or Coca leaves or 3 Rose leaves. The 3 leaves represent the Shamans view of the world which is that there are 3 levels to the world. The Shamans understand the world to be made of a lower world, middle and upper world.
Once the intentions are blown into the leaves the leaves are wrapped with the rest of the ingredients into a bundle and then wrapped with ribbon or string. The Despacho is then burned or buried whilst focusing on the objective or purpose of the Despacho.
Burning or burying the Despacho as an offering whilst connecting to nature or focusing on your intention is deeply fulfilling. As you burn or bury the Despacho it really seems to add power to your prayers or intentions. When creating a release ceremony it gives you a tangible representation of the thing that you are releasing adding to the feeling of finality and providing you with a symbol of the release or intention.
