In this post I’m going to show you how I created my Litha Sun Energy Herbal Blend. The herbal blend is a multipurpose herb, flower and oil mix with crystal chips.

This blend can be used on a charcoal disc to cleanse a room and to bring in positive energy. This blend can be used in an unbleached cotton bag and placed in a bath, a footspa or hung over the head of a shower or tap. You can also mix a small amount of this blend with Himalayan salt or Dead Sea Salt to form a hand, foot or body scrub. You could also add a small amount of the herbal blend to oil to create an anointing oil for your tools or meditation space or altar. You could also just add the herbal blend to a small cotton bag or glass jar to use as a spell jar or spell bag. You could also use the blend to anoint candles by rolling the candle in a thick carrier oil and then rolling the candle in the herbs. You can also use the smoke from the blend to cleanse the aura. This blend is inspired by Summer energy, Sun, Fire and Earth Energy and the season of Litha.
Litha is also known as Midsummer or the Summer Solstice. Litha is a pagan festival that celebrates the longest day of the year when the sun is at its peak.In the Northern Hemisphere, Litha is celebrated around June 20-23, typically on June 21. In the Southern Hemisphere, Litha is celebrated around December 20-23, typically on December 21.The Litha Summer festival is a celebration of the sun and the abundance of light. Summer Solstice is a time of gratitude and a time of taking action. Summer is a time to celebrate the fullness of life. Summer officially began on Thursday, June 20, 2024, marking the astronomical first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. In the ancient days bonfires were lit during Litha to cleanse the air. Creating your own Summer smudge can be seen as a modern day recreation of the Litha bonfires with the smudge having the added benefit of cleansing purifying and charging the air or home. Litha is also the best time to pick flowers for drying for future herbal uses as the flowers are at their peak.
In Shamanic Healing and some Medicine Wheels Summer is represented by the Snake Power Animal and Pachamama Mother Earth. The South path of the medicine wheel that I work with works with the energy of cultivating love and strong relationships in the South direction. The South direction is also about our ancestors and our ancestral line and our physical reality, physical body, our health and our home. So when deciding on the blend formula these are the things that I took into consideration.
Key words that I worked with for the Litha blend are: Fire, Sun,Transformation, Energy, Action, Joy, Happiness, Abundance.

Herbs for the Fire Element: Bayleaf, Cinnamon,
Herbs & Flowers for Sun Energy and Joy: Sunflowers, Yellow Roses, Orange Flower Petals,
Herbs & Flowers for Energy & Action: Ginger or and Nutmeg, Calendula, Thyme, Lotus, Jasmine, Mint
Essential Oils for Transformation and Grounding: Sandalwood, Cedarwood
The ingredients can be ground in a mortar and pestle but for this one I just ripped up the bigger herbs and leaves. I also decided to repurpose a herb glass bottle to house the herbal smudge. I added Ginger Jasmine and Blue lotus essential oil and Clear Quartz and Citrine Crystal chips. I will remove the crystal chips as I apply the smudge to my charcoal disc to burn. I have used lots of ingredients in this but you could quite easily just use 1 or 2 and or make use of the ingredients i.e herbs and flowers you already have in your kitchen and garden.

When using this blend as smudge loose incense I am going to focus on bringing in positive change into my life over the summer period. I am going to use a sticky label to label the blend Fire Energy Transformation and use it any time that I have an area in my life that I want to transform once Summer has passed. During the next 8 weeks I will also use this smudge during meditation to focus on positive transformation.
