A few dried loose herbs carefully chosen and blended together can give you just what you need when you need it. One of the plus points of learning about herbs is that you get to choose herbs specifically for your needs. I put together a herbal tea blend that provides support to the internal systems such as the liver and kidneys whilst providing nourishment to the body. Each herb has its own benefits for the body.
To create the herbal tea combine all herbs into an unbleached disposable tea bag. The tea blend uses 5g Teaspoon of Raspberry Leaf, 5g Teaspoon of Tulsi. 5g Goldenrod, 5g Teaspoon Dandelion Root 5g Nettle steep for 5-10 minutes sweeten with honey, sugar or a Teaspoon of Licorice root. You could garnish the tea with chamomile and rose petals if desired.
Putting together the tea blend can be done as a mindful practice simply by allowing ourselves to be fully present as we spoon out each herb. The art of drinking tea is used all over the world as a way to take time out for ourselves. As a mindful practice give yourself time to blend the tea, to take in the textures and colours of each herb, this opens up space for us to be in the moment, to appreciate the wonder of nature and to engage the senses. Even when you sit with the tea you can take time to tune in to what your feeling in the body by asking yourself “How does this tea make me feel?” and “What can I taste as I drink this?” and even “If this tea had a message what would it be?” Notice if you feel grounded, a feeling of strength, relaxation, a surge of energy, sleepy. Read on to find out the benefits of each herb and consider that you could just start with a single herb or 2 or 3 and drink them as a blend or drink them as a single herb.
