EFT to tap into your personal power for yourself and to use with clients
EFT tapping is The Emotional Freedom Technique which requires tapping on specific acupressure points on the body. Tapping on the EFT acupressure points can assist in clearing emotional and mental blocks. EFT can actually be used for any number of issues including pain management, changing limiting beliefs, programming the mind with new beliefs and releasing suppressed emotions and trauma just to name a few. EFT stimulates acupoints on the body and sends signals to the nervous system which can remove the negative charge of particular thoughts and memories. EFT uses some of the same points that are used for acupuncture and acupressure. These points are based on the Chinese energy system. The Chinese energy system uses meridians which are the energy pathways or freeways in the body on which various acupuncture points are found which are hot spots where energy from the particular pathways can be pressed to boost or sedate the energy in thar particular pathway. EFT is an easy system to learn. There are only a few points on the face and upper chest and sometimes the hands that need to be stimulated in order to address and change the charge and impact and response attached to certain feelings, emotions, beliefs and memories. EFT can be combined with other modalities.
The image above shows the points that you tap. You can tap the points with a finger or the 2 fingers next to your thumb. You can tap on both sides of the body simultaneously or just tap one side of the body. The tapping is done in a rhythmic fashion moving from one point to the next whilst repeating certain statements.
The third eye (Point 2) and thymus points (the arrows point 10) have been added into this sequence. Another point that can be added is tapping at the side of the hand in line with the little finger at the area that would be used to perform a karate chop. The Karate chop point can be used during the last stage of EFT tapping when you or the client is stating their affirmation statement.
The 10 points are as follows:
1. The Crown on top of the head.
2. The third eye the space between the eyebrows.
3. The inner corner of the eyebrows.
4. The outter corner of the eyebrow.
5. Under the centre of the eye on the eye bone.
6. The centre above the top lip.
7. Below the bottom lip at the centre on the fleshy part of the chin.
8. The inner corner of the collar bone just underneath the collar bone.
9. Under the arm in line with the nipple, where a womans bra would end on the rib.
10. Rub down from under the collar bone with 2 hands one on each side under the collar bone rubbing up and down.
Steps to this exercise
1. Identify what you want to change e.g how you think, feel, act.
2. Identify what you want instead.
3. Affirm what you want as if you already have it.
4. Practise self forgiveness for the situation.
You can ask the client to think about a belief, emotion or feeling related to themselves that they want to change. Once the client has identified the belief or emotion ask the client to think of a sentence that sums up their feelings. For example the client might say “I feel like i’m not good enough to start my own business”
As the practitioner you can then ask the client “How does it make you feel when you think of starting your business?”
Or “How does ……. (xyz) make you feel?” Depending on what the client would like to work on.
The client might respond “I feel like I need to learn more, I feel like I would be wasting my time to even try, I feel disappointed in myself for not doing what I want to do”
You can then ask the client “How do you want to feel?”
The client might respond “I want to feel excited like I did when I first got the idea. I want to feel hopeful. I want to feel confident”
You can then ask the client to tap on the above points with the blunt end of a crystal point or a tumble stone. Clear Quartz, Lemurian Quartz, Black Tourmaline or any black crystal or Selenite will be good for this exercise.
The basic EFT statement is “Even though I feel ……… I love and approve of myself”
Help the client to construct 3 EFT tapping statements. The first statement will acknowledge how the client feels. The second statement will acknowledge how the client wants to feel. The third statement will turn the second statement into an affirmation.
Instruct the client to tap each point at least 7 times.
The statements might look like this
Statement 1 “Even though I feel like I’m not good enough to start my own business I love and approve of myself” The client will state this and tap points 1-9 Seven times each. Purpose of statement–What you want to change.
Statement 2 “I want to let this feeling go so that I can move on and start taking the action to give starting a business a go” client will tap points 1-9 Seven times each. Purpose of atatement-How you want to feel.
Statement 3 “I take action everyday to move me forward in running a successful business. I find out what I need to do and then I do it. I know I can do this” or “When I think about starting a business I feel hopeful because I know that others are already doing this and there is a market for it. I am good enough. I already have the right skills and I know enough. I can do this. I can start a successful business.” the client will state this whilst tapping all the points 1-10. Purpose of statement- Affirmative statement.
Finally the client can tap the 10 points and state to themselves and their own subconscious. “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you” Ho’oponopono
Here is another example
Statement 1 “Even though I feel like I will never earn enough to support myself, I love and approve of myself” The client will state this and tap points 1-9 Seven times each. Purpose of statement-What you want to change.
Statement 2 “I know that I can change my thoughts and achieve a better income” client will tap points 1-9 Seven times each. Purpose of statement-How you want to feel.
Statement 3 “I always earn enough money to support myself and to live comfortably” Or “My income is increasing” Or “I earn more and more money” Purpose of statement-Affirmative statement.
The client can then tap the 10 points and state to themselves and their own subconscious. “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you” The Ho’oponopono statement for forgiving the self or for forgiving others.
Think of a belief, emotion or feeling that you would like to get rid of and construct 1-3 statements to support the removal of the belief, emotion or feeling and practise tapping the points. When you practise tapping the points you will easily remember the sequence and reduce or annihilate/ the belief emotion or feeling.
EFT exercises to strengthen the Solar Plexus chakra and to harness personal power using crystals and essential oils
Crystals for EFT
Tapping with a Shungite crystal point can be used to reduce negative thoughts and will help with focusing on a rational perspective rather than an emotional perspective.
Tapping with Obsidian can assist with bringing up the issues that are preventing one from stepping into their personal power. Obsidian will act like a mirror reflecting one’s own personal truths back to you so that you can work on the emotions that may be blocking manifestation and progress.
Tapping with Black Tourmaline can be used to dispel negative energy and to work through negative emotions that are brought up during tapping.
Citrine or Sunstone or Tigers Eye can be used to work on emotions and fears that are causing blockages in the Solar Plexus chakra.
Bloodstone can be used for courage.
Hematite can be used for will power.
*If the crystal wand has a sharp point you can use a nail file board or sand paper to smooth down the point so that it is suitable for using for EFT or acupressure work.
Essential oils for EFT
Essential oils that can be paired with a crystal wand for tapping include
Ginger and Clove for those who are feeling weak willed.
Black Pepper for assertiveness.

Essential oil and crystal pairings for personal power
Ginger and Tigers Eye for strengthening personal confidence and will power.
Anise and Hematite for feeling capable and will power.
Black Pepper and Black Tourmaline for personal strength and warding off negative thoughts.
Clove and Shungite for protecting one from negativity.
How to use essential oils and crystals for EFT
You can add 2 drops of the essential oil to 5 mls (1 teaspoon) of carrier oil and allow the client to pour it into their hands. Ask the client to cup their hands over their nose and mouth and to inhale the aroma whilst thinking of the issue that they wish to work on. Next you can have the client use the corresponding crystal wand to tap the EFT points whilst repeating their statements for the EFT session.
When tapping you or your client may find that more negative thoughts surface and you can use the EFT in the moment to create statements to work through any other negative thoughts or beliefs that come up. When you work with the negative thoughts or beliefs that come up by starting with a few negative thoughts or beliefs and then working through any other beliefs that come up after the initial negative beliefs the EFT session can last 20-30 minutes or more. When this is practised on a regular basis or even for a week it is amazing how the negative beliefs can be released to allow you or your client to move forward.
