Energetic Flower Healing: Creating A Rose, Lotus, Jasmine Glycerite

I have been wanting to try creating my own glycerite for a while. As I deepen in my spiritual and energetic practises I am called to go deeper with some of the influential plants and flowers connected to the cultures and lineages that influence my herbalism and spiritual studies. Glycerites are a great way to incorporate the healing power of flowers into your life. By soaking dried flowers used for herbal teas in food grade glycerin you can create your own floral essences or concentrated extracts. You can also create your own flower essences by soaking dried plant material in strong alcohol. I wanted to try this without alcohol as the possibilities for this are endless. You can create your own natural essences that contain the extracts and nutrients of the herbs and flowers used.

So let’s begin with what a glycerite is:

A glycerite is a type of herbal extract that uses glycerin as the solvent instead of alcohol. This makes it an excellent choice for the whole family. Glycerin preserves the properties of the herbs but also adds a honey like taste.

The Magic of Rose, Lotus, and Hibiscus

Rose: Known as the queen of flowers, rose is celebrated for its ability to open the heart, promote emotional balance, and enhance feelings of love and compassion. Its gentle, soothing properties make it perfect for skin care and emotional healing.

Lotus: A symbol of purity and spiritual awakening, lotus has been revered in various cultures for centuries. Its essence helps to elevate the mind, promote inner peace, and support spiritual growth. The lotus flower is often associated with rebirth and enlightenment, making it a powerful ally in personal transformation.

Hibiscus: Vibrant and bold, hibiscus is packed with antioxidants and is known for its ability to support skin health and promote a radiant complexion. It also helps in balancing hormones and revitalizing the body, making it a fantastic addition to any wellness routine.

The Creation Process

Creating this glycerite was a labor of love and patience. I carefully macerated the petals of Rose, Lotus, and Hibiscus in glycerin for six days, ensuring that all the beneficial properties were gently extracted. The typical time to infuse plant material in a liquid is usually 3-8 weeks. As this is my first glycerite I was eager to try it and as I have only made a small quantity I did not leave it for weeks. Soaking the plant, flower or herb material in a liquid such as alcohol, honey, oil or glycerine allows the minerals and vitamins of the plant material to be transferred into the liquid. This process allows the delicate flowers to infuse their essences into the glycerin, resulting in a potent and fragrant blend.

I use a double extraction process to separate the plant material from the carrier liquid which sounds more complicated than it is. To separate the extract from the plant material I use a cheese cloth over a small holed sieve. By using the cheese cloth and sieve this prevents any of the plant material from being left in the liquid, in this case the glycerite. Below you can see my sieve and my cheese cloth set up.

I carefully pour the flowers and glycerite through the cheese cloth and sieve into another clean glass jar. Next I press the flowers so that the glycerite only is transferred to the new jar.

I then fold the cheese cloth into a ball with the flowers in the middle of the ball and give it a good squeeze to extract every drop of the infused glycerine.

After maceration, the mixture is stored in the fridge to preserve its freshness and potency.

How I will use the Glycerite

I will take a 5ml (teaspoon) or 2.5 ml (half a spoonful) of the Glycerite each day. This process using flowers is based on the same principles of Bach flower remedies. The use of the plant material or in my case the flowers in this case allow you to receive the energetic and physical essence of the flowers into your system. This is great if you are interested in Herbalism like I am. This gives you a chance to experience the herbs or flowers in a form other than a tea or cold infusion drink.

Other ways to use your Glycerite

There are countless ways to incorporate this beautiful glycerite into your daily life:

Skin Care: Add a few drops to your favorite moisturizer or toner to enhance your skin care routine with the soothing and rejuvenating properties of the flowers.

Emotional Well-Being: Take a small dose under your tongue or add it to your tea to promote emotional balance and a sense of well-being.

Spiritual Practice: Use it in your meditation or spiritual rituals to deepen your connection with your inner self and promote spiritual growth.

Experience the Benefits by experimenting with your own glycerites. This glycerite offers the possibilites of working at the energetic level to bring balance to the energetic bodies. Rose and Hibiscus may also contribute to a brighter and clearer complexion. You receive the benefits of the vitamins and antioxidants found in the Rose, Lotus and Hibiscus. This glycerite will act as a way for me to connect with these plants on a deeper level.
