There is something alchemical about crafting your own sacred beauty rituals — especially when you infuse them with ancient plant wisdom and divine fragrance. Bath bombs and bath fizz are more than pampering treats; they are energetic elixirs for cleansing the aura, calming the mind, and reconnecting with the sacred sensual self.
When made with organic botanicals, pure essential oils, and mineral-rich salts, these creations become modern-day temple offerings to your body — your living altar. And the best thing is you dont need to be a trained chemist to create them.
To create a bath bomb or bath fizz you basically need 2 ingredients Bicarbonate Soda and Citric Acid. You use half the amount of Citric Acid to the amount of Bicarbonate Soda. If you were making a 150g recipe the base formula would be 50g Citric Acid and 100g Bicarbonate Soda however this would be fairly harsh with no form of softening to the 2 harsher ingredients. Using Rose Powder or Sandalwood Powder softens the mixture taking some of the harshness out of its impact on the skin. In fact the addition of any cosmetic grade herbal powder will help to bind the formula and reduce some of the drying effects that can occur.
Here is a small batch recipe that creates a 86g weight product.
10g cornflour (optional)
50g Bicarbonate Soda
25g Citric Acid
1g Powdered Sandalwood or Rose Powder
5-10g Distilled Water or Floral Water/Hydrosol
To make the bath bombs combine all the dry ingredients and stir then add the essential oils and mica powder or 4-5 drops of food colouring to get a deeper colour. and the water to bind. For bath bombs spoon into the moulds and as it begins to rise press the mixture back into the moulds. For bath fizz you can crumble the mixture as it starts to dry out. Use gloves and roll the mixture between your fingers, leave it to begin to air dry and as it does crumble the mixture between your fingers until it becomes a fine powder. Spoon into jars.
You can watch a short video on how to do this here and download the slides below

For the water element steer away from tap water and even mineral water as these can grow microbes. Use Distilled water or a hydrosol such as Rose Water. I am quite happy using shop brought Rose Water as I follow the Ayurvedic principle of only putting on the skin what you can eat and put in the body but the bench mark for quality is purchasing your ingredients from professional cosmetic and skin care formulation suppliers or candle making manufacturers who offer skin care formulation products. Basically unless it can be digested/eaten it should be brought from a reputable skin care supplier that clearly states that the product can be used in cosmetic and skin care making. Candle fragrance oils are a no-no, look for cosmetic grade or products that state they can be used on the skin. Essential oils need to be pure and undiluted.

If you split the mixture into 2 you can use 2 different mica powders and layer into your silicone moulds or jars.

I made a set of the following:
Rose and Sandalwood bath bombs,
Tuberose and Sandalwood bath fizz,
Blue Lotus bath bombs
Violet bath bombs

The bath bombs and bath fizz provide a great bubbling effect and then scent the water beautifully whilst dispersing the dried flowers into the water and colouring the water lightly with the colouring of the bath bomb or fizz. Large bath bombs are great but the little ones mean you can start with 1 and add more if necessary. The smaller bath bombs give you an easier way to choose how much of the product you end up with in your bath. You can add 1 bath bomb and then add 1 or 2 more as they disperse into the water and your able to judge how much is right for you and your preferences.
If you like the sound of my bath bombs and bath fizz and want to give it a go here’s an easy bigger batch recipe that gives you the opportunity to create a larger batch. Right at the beginning of this post I gave you the formula for a small batch. Below is a formula base recipe for a larger batch.
A simple base formula includes:
Optional: dried petals (rose, violet, blue lotus) for beauty and vibration..
1 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) – alkalizes and softens the skin.
½ cup citric acid – the fizzing agent that activates in water.
½ cup corn starch or arrowroot powder – creates a silky texture.
2–3 tbsp carrier oil (grapeseed, jojoba, or coconut) – nourishes the skin.
1 tbsp fine salt or clay (Epsom, pink salt, or kaolin) – adds minerals and energetic grounding.
10–15 drops essential oils (choose from what you have or what you prefer).
