There is something about being by a large body of water that let’s you know exactly who you are on this planet. When we are in the ocean or even when we see the ocean we realise that we are one fragment of a vast web of life. From the tiniest creepy crawly on the bottom of the ocean to a 7 foot basket ball player we are all experiencing life on a planet that is spinning in the air. When overwhelm sets in a walk in the fresh air, sitting by a body of water or a tree grounds you back into reality. Sometimes life can get overwhelming I know it can for me anyway but connecting in with nature has a profound way of allowing you to take that breath and to say OK what’s next?
The Southern Hemisphere is experiencing summer whilst the Northern Hemsiphere is experiencing spring.
In the South the energy is of Summer of taking action now and getting things done so that when winter sets in you can reap the rewards of what you are doing now. In the Northern Hemisphere the energy is of Spring of regeneration, of bringing back creativity and new life to old and new projects, taking the first steps and planting the seeds.

The Medicine Wheel that I follow teaches that each direction carries a specific consciousness and healing frequency.
In the North lives Eagle — winter — elder — grandmother — knowledge — vision — precision — clarity — wisdom — journeying — the mental realm.
In the East rises Hummingbird — spirit — maiden — child — spring — wonder — innocence — passion — joy — the gut center of instinct and inspiration.
In the South moves Serpent — summer — the physical body — love — relationships — foundations.
In the West walks Jaguar — autumn — emotions — intuition — mystery — the unseen realms.
As we transition between spring and summer energies, we are moving from an ideas and passion focus into a physical focus — from inspiration into action. Below are energy healing practices aligned with these seasons and the Medicine Wheel.
Three Energy Healing Techniques for Spring (East – Hummingbird – Spirit)
1. Dawn Breath of Wonder (Gut Activation Practice)
Stand in the sun or facing the East at dawn. Place your hands over your lower abdomen — the gut center. Inhale deeply and imagine drawing in golden light from the horizon. Exhale any stagnation from winter. This practice activates childlike wonder, joy, and passion. Spring is about rebirth — allow innocence and curiosity to re-enter your field.
2. Seed Intention Ceremony
Plant literal seeds in soil or symbolic seeds in a journal. As you press them into the earth, speak your intentions aloud. Hummingbird teaches us that small actions carry great magic. Energy follows focused intention. This aligns your spirit with growth cycles.
3. Movement of Joy Ritual
Dance outdoors barefoot if possible. Shake the hips and lower body to awaken the gut center. Spring energy is playful and expansive. Let your body move spontaneously — this clears dormant winter energy and restores flow through the energetic meridians.

Three Energy Healing Techniques for Summer (South – Serpent – Physical Body)
1. Serpent Grounding Walk
Walk slowly in nature, preferably bare foot on earth or sand. Tune in to the feeling of the Earth beneath your feet. Imagine energy moving like a serpent up through the soles of your feet into your legs and spine. Summer calls you into embodiment — into love, relationships, and foundations. Feel your physical presence deeply.
2. Sun-Charged Water Infusion
Place a glass jar of water in the sunlight for a few hours. Before drinking, hold it to your heart and set an intention of vitality and love. The sun amplifies life-force energy. Drinking this water supports the physical and emotional body.
3. Relationship Gratitude Fire Ritual
Write down the names of people who form your foundation. Speak gratitude for each one. If safe, burn the paper in a small fire bowl and release blessings into the universe. Summer energy strengthens bonds and builds secure roots.
Four Energy Healing Techniques for the Transition Between Spring & Summer
1. Vision to Action Mapping (North to South Alignment)
Sit facing North and reflect on Eagle’s wisdom: clarity, precision, vision. Write down one clear vision. Then turn to the South and write three physical actions to bring it into reality. This bridges mental realm and embodiment.
2. Spirit-to-Body Breath Spiral
Inhale imagining energy entering through the crown (Eagle clarity). Guide it down into the gut (Hummingbird spirit). Exhale into the legs and feet (Serpent grounding). This integrates mental, spiritual, and physical layers.
3. Floral Oil Self-Anointing
Use a light floral oil such as rose or jasmine. Apply to the heart and solar plexus. Spring opens; summer sustains. Anointing seals intention into the physical body and supports emotional flow as we move toward deeper relational energy.
4. Nature Immersion Meditation
Sit quietly in a park, forest, or near water. Observe without labeling. Let Jaguar’s intuitive awareness gently awaken in the background while Hummingbird’s joy remains present. This practice balances spirit, body, and emerging emotional awareness before autumn’s deeper introspection arrives.
The Medicine Wheel and Seasonal Energy: An Integrated Perspective
The Medicine Wheel teaches that healing is cyclical, not linear. Spring does not exist without winter’s wisdom. Summer cannot bloom without spring’s innocence. When we consciously align with these seasonal archetypes — Eagle in the North, Hummingbird in the East, Serpent in the South, Jaguar in the West — we harmonize the mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional realms within ourselves.
Nature is not separate from our healing; it is the original teacher. In spring, we remember how to dream again. In summer, we learn how to live those dreams fully in the body. Between the two, we bridge inspiration and action — spirit and form.
Whether you stand beneath cherry blossoms in the Northern Hemisphere or feel the warmth of Southern Hemisphere sunlight on your skin, the invitation is the same: return to the Earth. Listen. Breathe. Align.
Healing is not something you force. It is something you remember — season by season, direction by direction, step by step along the wheel.
